I’m going to walk you through the process of how to install a Sample Pack or a Sound Pack in FL Studio.
Sample Packs and Soundpacks are a collection of samples and presets that you can download. They add new sounds to your collection for making music.
If you’ve been working with FL Studio for a little bit of time, you will reach a point where you want to branch out from the stock sounds that are available. You will want to move towards getting a new set of sounds. There are lots of sample packs that are available.
Some of them are free, some are not.
So I’m going to walk you through the process of finding a sample pack that you want to purchase. I’ll show you how to install it. And then get it set up in FL Studio so you have easy access to it.
If you’re like me, you probably watch some different producers on YouTube or have seen some producers in a video who are using a sample pack. Free sound packs for fl studio 12 2018.
They have usually created the drums samples like kicks, snares, hi hats, and other percussion. And they will also have some interesting effects that are a part of the pack as well. These are basically just great sounding samples that you could use in your songs.
And that can be great for inspiration.
I find for myself, that sometimes it’s nice to pick up something new. The sounds will inspire you to create something out of the ordinary line of what you create. This can be great when you want to try out a new kind of track, or are working on developing a specific kind of sound.
I was recently watching a video about a couple of producers taking the same sample, and flipping it in unique ways. There were four producers. One of the producers stood out to me, so I ended up jumping on his channel and binging on some of his videos.
After watching a couple of them I realized that he had his own sample packs that he had created and was selling so I decided to snatch it up.
The sample pack is called Paradise Cartel by Sikky Beats. *not an affiliate link
It’s $34.99 at the time I’m creating this post.
So I went to the website and purchased the sample pack.
Usually after you have purchased the sample pack, you will get some sort of a download. Usually a zip folder that contains all the samples.
Once you unzip the folder It will have the sample pack name as the main folder. Under it, it will have the other sample folders, divided into things like kicks, snares, hi hats, other percussion, etc.
Once you unzip the folder, you should be able to cut/copy the entire thing. I click on the main folder (Paradise Cartel) and press CTRL + X (cut shortcut on a PC). I have a hard drive that I store for samples on my computer.
So I navigate to that hard drive via the Windows Explorer, and then paste it into the main directory.
The main directory on my hard drive is called SAMPLES. I would suggest to create a folder like SAMPLES on your computer as well. You will want to put all your sample packs under this folder. The reason you want to do that will become clear a little later on when we set up the search folder in FL Studio.
So now under SAMPLES, you will see that the Paradise Cartel folder has appeared after I pasted it.
So let’s move on to setting up the sample folder.
Let’s open up FL Studio.
We are going to open up the settings menu. Press F10 to open up the settings window.
Move under the file tab. You should see a section labeled as browse extra search folders. Click on one of the empty folder icons. This will bring up a window that will let you choose what folder you want to bring in to FL Studio. Fl studio sound effects download.
This is where you will “install” the sample pack in FL Studio. You are telling FL Studio where to look for the new sample pack.
It tells FL Studio that you want to look at this folder for items that you want to use with your FL Studio projects.
Navigate to the SAMPLES folder that you just created in the last step.
Then Click okay.
Now you can close the settings window by clicking the x in the top right corner, or by pressing F10 again.
Now go to the library on the left side. If this menu is not open, press ALT + F8, this will bring up the library window on the left side of the screen.
At the top of the browser window you should see a little arrow that looks like this (the green one):
Click on the reread structure button at the top of the menu.
You should see the SAMPLES folder appear in the list.
When you click on the samples folder, any folder that you install into the SAMPLES folder will appear. That’s the reason I told you earlier to create a folder that you put all your sample pack folders into. Now you don’t have to add each sample pack folder individually. You just have to throw it into the SAMPLES folder, and FL Studio will read it.
You may have to tell FL Studio to reread the structure by pressing that button at the top. But it’s much easier to have everything available in one spot.
Now you can go make some tracks with the new sample pack that you installed.
I put together two samples of what I created with the Sample Pack that I downloaded from Sikky beats.
If you like them, go check out the Paradise Cartelsample pack.
The link for the sample pack isn’t an affiliate link. I just think that it is a good sample pack, and I’ve enjoyed making music using it. I thought that you all might enjoy it as much as I did.
Usually after you have messed with a sample pack for a while, you’ll realize that you gravitate to using the same samples over and over. If you find that’s the case for you then you can try some other things:
Hopefully you found this helpful.
To recap. this is how to install a sample pack in FL Studio:
